Hi Neighbors,
The mosaic mural planned for the pump house wall of Shipe Pool is gaining momentum! Friends of Shipe Park, the group leading this project, is eager to expand its scope beyond the three foot high mural originally conceived and to create a colorful glass and tile mural that will cover the entire wall!
Our ability to complete the mural will depend on the grassroots support of neighbors who support the idea of an iconic, permanent art installation in the park. In addition to the $8,000 Austin Parks Foundation (APF) grant, we received a $10,000 pledge from a very generous individual to match new donations to complete the funding needed for this project!
Please support this effort today by making a tax-deductible contribution to the “Shipe Park” fund at the Austin Parks Foundation. To make a donation, go to www.austinparks.org/member.html, then click the link under “Gifts to Special Funds” and make sure to select “Shipe Park” on the donation form. We will also be accepting donations of flat glass and/or tile and volunteer support going forward.
